Environmental Compliance
The Water Authority and its member agencies take a proactive 
approach to addressing environmental issues. We plan and manage environmental compliance requirements that may impact current and future operations and water resource availability and uses.
The Water Authority ensures we comply with the following environmental laws:
- Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA)
- National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA)
- Section 404 of the Clean Water Act
We conduct surveys of sensitive plant and wildlife species that live near Water Authority projects. We also write and review NEPA documents, including the Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements related to member agency operations.
We track Bureau of Land Management policies as they relate to Water Authority rights-of-way. We also are responsible for managing the Water Authority's and Las Vegas Valley Water District's water rights in compliance with Nevada State law.
