Water Smart Car Wash reaches new milestone

The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) announced that its Water Smart Car Wash program now has more than 40 car wash locations in Southern Nevada. The program, initiated in 2005, provides discounts to residents who use participating commercial car wash facilities.

"The fact that more local businessmen and women are stepping up to support this important water conservation program is very exciting," said Water Conservation Coalition President Bill Martin. "Through this SNWA incentive program we can help residents save money, increase business for participating car washes and conserve our precious water resource. Clearly, everyone wins."

Home car washing can use two to three times more water than a commercial car wash. In addition, commercial car washes recycle water on-site or send the water to a regional water treatment facility for recycling, making it available for the community to use again.
