Not sure what to do with those old medications in your medicine cabinet? Protect the environment and our community by bringing them down to Operation Medicine Cabinet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20 for proper and safe disposal.
Unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications will be accepted anonymously at The Sport Center of Las Vegas located at 121 E. Sunset Rd. for proper disposal.
Many people flush old medications down the toilet or pour them down the drain. But because extremely low levels of these substances can remain in our water supply, this can have a negative impact on the environment. It is recommended that medications be disposed of in the trash, but it is very important that certain precautions be taken first.
Operation Medicine Cabinet, a partnership between multiple local organizations including the Southern Nevada Water Authority, aims to educate the community on the misuse and improper disposal of prescription and over-the-counter drugs and offers a safe medication disposal alternative.
