Facilities

The Clark, Lincoln and White Pine Counties Groundwater Development Project (GWD Project) will consist of the construction and operation of groundwater production, conveyance and treatment facilities, as well as power conveyance facilities.

Proposed facilities include:

• Pipelines - approximately 306 miles of buried water pipeline, between 16 and 84 inches in diameter
• Pumping Stations - five pumping stations
• Regulating Tanks - six regulating tanks, each approximately 3 to 10 million gallons in capacity
• Buried Storage Reservoir - 40-million gallon buried storage reservoir
• Water Treatment Facility - 150 million gallon per day water treatment facility
• Three pressure-reducing facilities
• Power Facilities - approximately 323 miles of 230 kilovolt and 120 miles of 69 kilovolt overhead power lines, two electrical substations

The proposed facilities are generally displayed on Project Map. The proposed facilities will be located predominantly on public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management and primarily within designated utility corridors.

The main pipeline will begin in Spring Valley and extend south to the Las Vegas Valley. Three primary laterals will connect northern Spring, Snake and Cave valleys to the main pipeline. All pipelines will be buried.

Groundwater production wells, collector pipelines and related production facilities have yet to be determined. The rights-of-way for those facilities will be requested in the future and will be subject of separate environmental analysis and federal approvals.
