entering the SNWA Landscape Awards.
The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) Landscape Awards program recognizes those who have created water-smart landscapes in Southern Nevada.
After much anticipation, the winners of the 2013 Landscape Awards have been announced. Take a look at our
Landscape Awards Winners to see who won.
While entries are accepted year-round, judging is only held once a year in the late spring. Submit your online entry for the 2014 Landscape Awards.
Landscape and irrigation professionals, horticulturists and gardening experts comprise the judging panel. The experts judge landscape entries on four major criteria: project creativity, overall design, technical merit and planting.
In addition, the Linn Mills Award is given annually to an individual or organization that has made a positive impact on water conservation in Southern Nevada.
Entries also are accepted for a variety of special projects. One or more of these categories may be entered without entering Homeowner or Professional Landscape Awards categories.
Environmental Stewardship - Projects eligible for the Environmental Stewardship award should demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the management of water, wildlife, vegetation, air and soil.
Production Gardens - Projects eligible for the Production Gardens award should have a primary focus of producing vegetables, fruits, herbs, or any other edible plant. For-profit, commercial gardens and farms are not eligible.
Wildlife Habitat - Projects eligible for the Wildlife Habitat award should be a landscape created to provide food, water, cover and a place for wildlife to raise their young.
Yard Warrior Award - Entries which were installed, designed and maintained by the homeowner also will be eligible for the Yard Warrior Award. A separate entry is not needed for this award.

More than half of the water consumed in Southern Nevada is used for landscape watering, particularly sprinkler irrigation of grass lawns. The Landscape Awards contest proves that water-efficient landscapes can be lush and colorful outdoor living spaces. Share your water-efficient landscape with SNWA and help spread the word that water-smart living has a style all its own.
Note: Las Vegas Valley Water District, Southern Nevada Water Authority and Springs Preserve employees, contract employees and family members are ineligible.
