Conservation Plan Updated

The Southern Nevada Water Authority has drafted a Water Conservation Plan for 2014 through 2018.

The plan describes the Authority’s current conservation goal of 199 gallons per capita per day by 2035 and details strategies and tactics for continued water savings. It also provides a review of the Authority’s conservation programs and achievements.

Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) requires all suppliers of water to prepare and adopt a water conservation plan every five years for its service areas. In addition, the Reclamation Reform Act of 1982 requires the SNWA to maintain a five-year conservation plan with the Bureau of Reclamation.

As part of the process for adopting the plan, a public comment period was held from March 3-17, 2014. Comments received during this period will be considered during the finalization of the plan.
