For more than a decade, the Southern Nevada Landscape Awards contest proved that water-efficient landscapes can be lush and colorful outdoor living spaces.
More than half of the water used in Southern Nevada is used for landscape watering, particularly sprinkler irrigation of grass lawns.
Although the landscape awards program was retired in 2018, photos of winning landscapes from previous years are available for inspiration.
