Our water meets all federal standards.

The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) runs thousands of analyses each month to ensure our water supply meets or surpasses all federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards.

In addition to meeting federal and state standards, we also strive to keep you informed about water quality and the water issues that affect you.

Safe Drinking Water Act

Congress passed the Safe Drinking Water Act in 1974 and has amended it several times. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) writes the regulations to carry out the provisions of the act, which is administered through the State of Nevada.

The purpose of the Safe Drinking Water Act is to make sure that the drinking water supplied to the public is safe. The EPA sets national drinking water standards that water system providers must follow.

Southern Nevada's municipal water supply meets or surpasses all federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards.
