Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, we automatically collect certain information during your visit to our Site. We currently use Google Analytics to perform web measurement and analytics. The information it collects may be used for things such as compiling statistics about our Site and measuring Site activity so that we may update the Site to better meet users' needs and interests. Get more information about how Google may use data it collects through the Site, or learn how to opt out of Google Analytics data collection.

The Las Vegas Valley Water District mobile app collects analytics through the Microsoft Visual Studio App Center.

Information that may be collected by automated means includes:

  • Date and time you visited our Site
  • Pages you visited while on our Site
  • If you navigated to our Site by clicking a link and the location of that link
  • The Internet Service Provider you used to connect to our Site
  • The Internet Protocol address from which you accessed our Site
  • The browser you used to visit our Site
  • The operating system you used to visit our Site

  • Location information

Your web browser may have settings that allow you to transmit a “Do Not Track” signal when you visit various websites or use online services. Like many websites, our Site is not designed to respond to “Do Not Track” signals received from browsers. Learn more about “Do Not Track” signals.

Cookies

We use "cookies" to store your preferences and other information on your computer in order to save you time by eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same information. A cookie is a text file that is placed in your computer or device to store your preferences. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your browser setting to decline cookies, if you so choose. If you do decline cookies, you may not be able to sign in or use other interactive features on this Site. Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies. Learn more about cookies.

In addition, we may use automatically-collected information to track your activity over time and across websites, as well as across different devices you use to access the Internet.

Pixel Tags and Retargeting

We operate advertising and marketing campaigns in partnership with third-party vendors. As part of our campaigns, we place pixel tags on individual web pages within our Site to track interest in certain types of web content. These tags are used to obtain information about the computer being used to view Web pages, including the IP address, the user’s operating system, and browser type. Pixel tags provide us and our vendors with information about topics and activities of interest to Site visitors, and the digital advertisements or articles that referred visitors to our Site. This helps us determine the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.

Retargeting is a cookie-based technology that uses Javascript code to “follow” visitors when they leave our website. We may place pixel tags containing this code on individual web pages on the Site. This enables our third-party advertising partners to show you ads about our programs and activities, based on your interests, on other websites.
