Arizona Rosewood
Vauquelinia californica
Large shrub or can be trained into a small multi-trunk tree. Narrow, dark green, leathery leaves with finely serrated margins. Clusters of creamy white flowers mature to brittle dark brown seed heads which may be removed during light pruning. After 3 to 4 years of growth prune lower branches to train as a small tree if desired. Best to prune in late fall or early winter. This is a good nonpoisonous replacement plant for oleander.
